Professional Experience
Mr. Senisi is the founder of Green Design Construct, LLC. He has been practicing energy conscious design since the middle of the 1970’s during the height of the 1973 Oil Crisis. He began the firm as a “Case Study”, to demonstrate that small buildings can also achieve the LEED standard without financially damaging the development proforma. He has almost completed a small 3-unit residential townhouse in Manhattan which will be certified by LEED this year, a building type considered impractical to certify due to the perceived expense of implementing sustainable principals on such a small scale.
Mr. Senisi is also one of the founding Principals of Synthesis Architects, LLP, a multi-disciplined, award-winning design firm in Schenectady, New York, with a satellite office in Shanghai, China. He directs the mid-sized architectural firm’s high performance building designs.
Currently for Synthesis, he is converting a vacant tavern into a Cyber Cafe in Schenectady for The Eco Radio Network, a project that will be featured on the Discovery Channel as an example of how to turn a small, dilapidated building into a model of sustainability.
Mr. Senisi and his firm, Synthesis Architects, LLP, were recently honored for the design of a high performance office building, NYS Department of Transportation Regional Headquarters in Schenectady, which received the US Green Building Council LEED Silver designation.
He has also designed and constructed passive solar homes, as well as a Synthesis award-winning, earth-sheltered residence, featuring composting toilets and greywater treatment systems.
