The wall forms are lined up in place and made ready for installation.

At the existing adjacent foundation, since the existing wall (with rigid insulation) will form one side of of the wall, a complicated, customized one-sided form system is used by Pepe. This requires a method of bracing the one-sided form properly to resist the force of the concrete as it is installed.

On New Years Eve day, Julio from Pepe’s crew relaxes with a soda after stripping the footing forms in preparation for the construction of the final foundation wall forms after the New Year.

The footings against the existing adjacent rubble foundation wall are set up above the new cellar slab elevation in order to avoid any undermining of the existing support material of the adjacent structure. You can note the stepped down footing when we pass the existing cellar foundation of the adjacent building.

The pipe sleeve is also provided with waterstopping material around its circumference and then poured into the footing. This will allow the outside footing perimeter pipe to traverse the footing and continue around the inside of the footing, until it outfalls in the sump pit.
